I believe the world we live in is amazing.
It holds such beauty, from the smallest dewdrop to the vast Milky Way that lights up the night sky. Beauty can be calm or intense, soft or rough, minute or massive. It can be light or dark, bright or dim, and all the variance in between. You can find beauty in happiness and in sorrow, calm or anger. It can soothe or unsettle, be destructive as well as creative. Beauty is not just appearance, it is emotion as well.
In my mind, I equate beauty with living – across the whole spectrum of being. Whether it be in stasis, movement, observance or expression, it is always there. It is all encompassing. I just need to take the time to look for it. If I try hard enough, I might even be able to capture the exact moment in which that beauty is revealed to me. Or even better, imbue the photograph with the weight of the entire experience – so that the viewer not only sees, but can feel, hear, and breathe the moment through a strictly visual medium. It is a constant quest, one that I find is worth all the time and energy I put into it.
This is why I am a photographer.
